My wife and I moved to Bend after retiring as a General Contractor from Honolulu. Our business spans nearly four decades and during that time I have worked with hundreds of subcontractors and contractors. I know a good contractor when I see one... and Karl Johnson is a “VERY GOOD” contractor... and a first class person.
The home we bought needed several improvements to make it “ours”. Karl was among the low bids (some were 20% TO 30% higher) and with a strong reference from my neighbor, I awarded the contract to Karl.Karl and his small crew worked diligently each day, even on the coldest days, and completed each task with professionalism and craftsmanship. He has the equipment and tools to do all the work and used materials that were consistent with the quality I expected. His workmanship is excellent and my wife and I are delighted with the finished product.
As with all projects, there were “extras” that were added. Karl was very detailed on his pricing with hourly times and rates as well as material costs. I had no issue with his extra costs or his billing process... he billed in phases of work. We have other projects in the works and Karl will be on the top of the bid list... if I go out to bid.
